A Space Girl Summer Journal Add-On
The circular field in front of our house is the perfect place for a battle.
Trees stand sentry around the edge, sheltering us from the road and neighboring houses all around. A clear blue sky stretches above, but all we can see are the opponents in front of us.
Yesterday we used long sticks, today calls for our plastic lightsabers. Blue and red, side by side. My brother shouts a call to arms, and we bolt across the field.
A galactic adventure has just begun.
My brother and I played Star Wars together almost every day, inventing our own worlds, characters, and stories. Star Wars grabbed my imagination at an early age and never let go. It was a canvas on which I could tell my own stories, a catalyst to be inspired by heroes and incredible places. Growing up on Star Wars shaped the woman I am now.
Space Girl Summer has been my favorite thing to do every summer, but it wouldn’t have existed without an entire childhood of falling in love with Star Wars. So, I have created what might be considered a love letter, a little passion project that I have poured my heart into. And now, I would like to share it with you.
